What I’m looking for.

I’m looking for short form speculative fiction, old style, slipstream, horror, fantasy, science fiction, literary, poetry, flash with a maximum length of 7,000 words - or even a longer story to serialise over a few newszines.

I will pop stories up on a Saturday or Sunday when they get through the acceptance and editing process.

Submissions can be made using .rtf or .doc formats sent to phlogistonpress@gmail.com and I will acknowledge receipt within 48 hours of submission. I aim to let you know if you’ve been accepted within 60 days of submission.

Payment for work will be based on the newsletters subscription level at the point your story is published and paid on a six-monthly basis for 24 months from the point of publication and the story will be unlocked for the public after 12 months.

I’m aiming to get a pot of money that I can use to pay contributors up front at a professional rate and any subscription that is left after fees and payments to authors will be going towards that plus any money made through book sales and Ko-Fi.

Royalties will be shared between current contributors with each accepted piece counting as one share. Contributors will get 75% of subscription payments received from Substack shared between all valid contributors after fees are taken into account.

The Phlogiston Press would like to publish new and previously unpublished work for which I will ask first digital rights for a period of 12 months from acceptance.

We will look at previously published work but there will be no payments for these and we only ask for the digital rights for that single newsletter and possible reproduction on the website.
